You are invited to attend a seminar on the use of management games in the classroom run by Business Management Games.
Agenda:
1/ How students benefit from business games in the classroom.
2/ How teachers benefit.
3/ How to administer the three versions of our business game, each of which targets different students.
4/ How to play the games.
5/ How to integrate them into the syllabus.
6/ Discussion group about business games in education.

Bill has had a passion for business games since the 1970’s, chairing the winning team in the National Management Game in 1972 and 1975. He wrote the above research essay as part of his Masters Degree in 1977, and has been in business for himself almost all of his working life. He also has extensive experience in private tuition and computers.

David joined Dick Smith Electronics in Australia at the age of 16, and was lucky enough to work alongside Dick Smith himself, watching him make the business grow and handle agents and suppliers. At the age of 23 he was then given a budget of $50,000 and asked to start Dick Smith Electronics in New Zealand. You can see the results everywhere! He will give a short address on the parallels between the game and real life business.

9.00 am
Introduction to the software and how it works.
Teachers will then play Version 2.0 , which is an introductory retail game they play individually. We will provide assistance and advice to participants.
We will pause the game from time to time to explain how to play, explain various strategies, show how game play benefits the students' education and show how to incorporate the game into the syllabus.
11.00 am
Morning tea
11.30 am
Introduction to version 3.0 which is a team game based on a corporate structure and has wholesale as well as retail markets.
Teachers will start to play Version 3.0 in teams of four.
1 pm
Lunch.
1.30 pm:
Continuation of Version 3.0 game play.
Discussion of how to incorporate games into the syllabus.
Short lecture by David Milson relating actual business experiences to what has been learnt in the game, based on his experience at Dick Smith Electronics.
Suggestions on how to arrange inter-school business competitions.
